Featured Galway Woodturner Colin Becker

Colin is a long term member of the Galway Chapter of woodturners and is currently the secretary of the club. Colin has produced beautiful pieces over the years. Below are some samples of Colin’s recent work.

  • Ash Mirror finished with a Lockwood dye and Electric Blue Hampshire sheen wax
  • Ash Mirror finished with a Lockwood dye and gold hampshire sheen embellishing wax.
Sycamore rim bowl with a black lacquer band, over painted with Jo Sonja iridescent paints and stirred around with an air brush.
Sycamore lidded box finished with a black lacquer, overpainted with Jo Sonja iridescent paints airbrushed around the outside. The inside is finished with Danish oil and plum finial.
Ripple Sycamore ‘Flaming Bowl’ with a black Lockwood dye basecoat on the inside, sanded back and then a variety of other dyes to get the flame effect. The outside is the same process without the black base coat.

Purple button – Ash finished with Lockwood dyes, electric blue patinating wax and Jute string.
